Finally made it to Ketchikan, Fairweather’s home port, in the wee hours of the morning a few days back. The bridge practiced docking maneuvers until the sun came up then we came alongside the fuel pier and topped off our diesel tanks. We also sent a land party to replenish our fresh produce.
Unfortunately we were unable to take shore leave as we only planned to stay for a few hours. After finishing up at the pier we steamed to a survey location nearby to update an area that hasn’t been surveyed since the 1800’s.
